Create a Student Award

Did you know students who receive a bursary are twice as likely to graduate, however, due to limited resources, Mount Royal is only able to support one in nine (or 10 per cent) of those who qualify.

Creating a student award is a great way to directly help students by alleviating financial stress so that students can be fully committed to their studies. Contact us at Foundation@mtroyal.ca to learn more

Endowed Student Awards:

Endowments are a great way to create a legacy while helping MRU students today and tomorrow. Your minimum seed donation of $30,000 will be invested and the annual income generated will be used to fund a student award.

You’ll have the opportunity to name your award for yourself or in honour of a family member, colleague, friend or organization. Endowment awards are a stable and secure way to support students for years to come.

“I chose to make endowed bursaries because I wanted to see the benefit it had on MRU Conservatory Students today, but I also wanted to continue to help for generations to come” Mary Buckley, Originator of The Mary Buckley Music Bursaries

Annual Student Awards

Annual Awards are a great option for donors with annual budget constraints or who want to make a shorter-term gift. Donors may create a named student award through a minimum yearly gift of $1,000, pledged for a minimum of five years. Working with our Fund Development team, you can help set the terms of your award within our existing parameters

“This scholarship goes a long way in helping me to attain my dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. I have found many challenges as an older mature student who returned to university three years ago, one being the financial aspect. With this scholarship, you have helped ease some of the burden that is associated with costs related to attending university. It is greatly appreciated, and I can assure you that I will continue to work hard and reach the end goal.“ Jonathan Weitzel, 2019 Recipient of the Alberta Association of Insurance Adjusters - Central Chapter Scholarship
