MRU Foundation

Support Scholarships and Bursaries

Did you know: Over 75% of MRU students have part-time jobs and work on average 19 hours a week?

We have the ambitious goal of increasing the value of our student award payments from under $2 million per year to $12 million per year by 2025. Building on an existing base of 1,700 different student awards, the expanded program will: increase the value of individual awards so each award has significant impact for the student who receives it expand scholarship and bursary offerings across all areas of the University to make more awards available to more students (new and continuing students; full- and part-time students) and help to ensure no deserving student is denied access to Mount Royal due to lack of funds.

“Having been selected to receive a Bursary, the financial burden of pursuing my studies away from home have been significantly reduced, which has enabled me to devote more of my time to my studies and academic activities. Your generosity and kindness has inspired my efforts to succeed. I hope that one day I may be able to help other students just as you have helped me. Thank you.”
- Kennedy, Bachelor of Interior Design

Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic merit. For students, they are a tangible reward for a job well done, allow for a better balance in their studies, work and lives and serve as a meaningful inspiration toward degree completion. For Mount Royal, scholarships help attract and retain promising students.

Bursaries are awarded based on financial need. For students challenged by limited financial resources, awards can make post-secondary education possible.
